St. Jude Thaddaeus

The Apostle Saint Jude Thaddeus is “The Miraculous Saint,” the Catholic Patron Saint of “lost causes” and “cases despaired of. “When all other avenues are closed, he is the one to call upon, and his help often comes at the last  moment.

St. Jude

He is an author of an epistle (letter) to the Churches of the East, . This Apostle is said to have suffered martyrdom in Armenia, which was then subject to Persia. Jude was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He is generally identified with Thaddeus, and is also variously called Jude of JamesJude ThaddaeusJudas Thaddaeus or Lebbaeus.

Jude is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them. Therefore, he is the patron saint of desperate cases and his feast day is October 28.

A Prayer To St. Jude

O Holy St Jude!
Apostle and Martyr,
great in virtue and rich in miracles,
near kinsman of Jesus Christ,
faithful intercessor for all who invoke you,
special patron in time of need;
to you I have recourse from the depth of my heart,
and humbly beg you,
to whom God has given such great power,
to come to my assistance;
help me now in my urgent need and grant my earnest petition.
I will never forget thy graces and favors you obtain for me
and I will do my utmost to spread devotion to you.Amen.

St. Jude, pray for us and all who honor thee and invoke thy aid.

Just Be You

Satan’s Meeting( Read It If You Are Busy)

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address he said,  “We can’t keep Christians from going to church.” “We can’t keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth.” “We can’t even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their savior.”  “Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken.”

“So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, but steal their time, so they don’t have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.” “This is what I want you to do”, said the devil:

“Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!” “How shall we do this?” his demons shouted.

“Keep them busy in the nonessentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,” he answered.

“Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.”

“Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.”

“Keep them from spending time with their children.” “As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!”

“Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice.” “Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive.” “To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical
music constantly.” “This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.”

“Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers.” “Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day.” “Invade their driving moments with billboards.” “Flood their mail boxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs,
sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products , services and false hopes.”

“Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their  husbands will believe that outward beauty is what’s important, and they’ll become dissatisfied with their wives.” “Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night.” “Give them headaches too!” “If they don’t give their
husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere.” “That will
fragment their families quickly!”

“Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas.” “Give them an Easter bunny so they won’t talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death.”

“Even in their recreation, let them be excessive.” “Have them return from their recreation exhausted.” “Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God’s creation.” “Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead.” “Keep them busy, busy, busy!”

“And when they meet for spi ritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences.”

“Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus.”   “Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.” “It will work!”
“It will work!”

It was quite a plan! The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get more busy and more rushed, going here and there. Having little time for their God or their families. Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful at his scheme?

You be the judge! Does “busy” mean:
B-eing
U-nder
S-atan’s
Y-oke?

Count Your Blessings

Lion - Louisville Zoo

Today morning I went to saloon the get a hair cut. As there was a queue before me I stated reading the newspapers and magazines which were kept there. I read a story which was very nice and provided me some relief because personaly I was in very depressed condition for some unknown reason. The story goes like this,

Once there was a lion in a forest. It was very much worried all the time, because it thought it’s nail were not strong and it was weaker than most of the other lions. Then it saw an elephant and thought If I would have been an elephant it would be lot easier to me because I don’t have to hunt other animals for food and live happily. Then it saw the elephant moving it’s ears on the sides. It asked the elephant why are you doing so. The elephant replied that it doesn’t move it’s ears like that ants will go inside and because of that it will die. Then the lion realized that everybody in this world has some problem, but everyone has move on with it until they reach their goal.

There are no extraordinary men…. just ordinary men forced to meet extraordinary circumstances

Admiral William Frederick Halsey Jr.

Reading this story reminded me a song which was taught in my school days, the song’s name is “Count your blessings”.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Faith in God

May God help me!

Faith in God doesn’t make the mountain smaller, but makes climbing easier.

Always ask for a strong shoulder rather  than asking for a lighter load.
