Till now it was not easy to customize what appears in our Facebook news feed. That’s a big issue if you do not want to see game updates in your feed, or would love to read new posts from a Facebook user that you do not want to or cannot befriend.
The new Facebook subscribe button supposedly takes care of this by providing users with better news feed controls. The button will appear later this week on profiles of friends and other users provided that they have activated the feature for non-friends.
According to Zach Rait of Facebook it servers 3 purposes
- Choose what you see from people in News Feed
- Hear from people, even if you’re not friends
- Let people hear from you, even if you’re not friends
- All updates: Everything your friend posts
- Most updates: The amount you’d normally see
- Important updates only: Just highlights, like a new job or move
Subscribe to Interesting People
The Subscribe button also lets you hear from interesting people you’re not friends with—like journalists, artists and political figures. If you see a Subscribe button on your favorite blogger’s profile, this means you can subscribe. Just click the button to get their public updates right in your News Feed.
You can Also Get The Subscribe button
To let people subscribe, go to the Subscriptions Page and click Allow Subscribers. Once you allow subscribers, you can decide who can comment and what notifications you get. You’ll also see a Subscribers tab on your profile, where you can see who subscribes to you
Facebook scams are not new, but with each new scam it gets as tempting as it is possible. Recent one is Free Facebook T-shirt scam. I’m seeing a lot of not-so-gullible users getting trapped this time around.
I must say it’s as tempting as it gets. Look at the above screenshot. It’ a really cool Facebook blue coloured t-shirt.There are multiple versions of the scam going on right now. Some of them claim that Mr. Zuckerberg is giving away free Facebook t-shirts on the occasion of seventh birthday of the biggest social network in the world. Of course Facebook was started in 2004 and the smarties have tried playing an intelligent game this time around.
Why It is a scam?
Clicking on the wall post link takes you to the following page:
This page is strictly designed to mine user information and spread their spam message to your friends. The page requires you to like a country or other and also join their group.
Much like the other scams, the trapped users will be bombarded with automated posts on their walls with links to the scam sites aimed at trapping some more. There are multiple domains being used for this scam, most of which were registered just a couple of days back.
How to Deal with the Scam:
If you “liked” the page and joined the group, then you need to perform some cleanup duty on your profile. Remove the item from your wall by clicking the small “x” in the top right hand corner of the post. It would also be a good idea to remove yourself and report the bogus group you joined.
If you submitted your email address, home address and / or other information, then be prepared to receive a deluge of spam email and marketing offers. Keep a watchful eye on your credit and make sure no identity theft attempts are made.
If you or your Facebook friends are falling for tricks like this, it’s time to get yourself informed of the latest threats
Sometime back Facebook introduced some changes. one of them was chat side bar. It was not useful for following reasons.
Takes the space of the page and decreases the width of the Facebook page.
No new thing or don’t provide any type of convenience,so why to make the page small with this sidebar.
Big downfall,to chat with your friends you have to enable this big sidebar. If you are using small width monitor then you will be frustrated with this sidebar.Might not affect users with widescreen monitors.
Fortunately there are some extensions to disable the side bar and bring back the old chat box.
Happy Facebooking Everyone
